I don't hate Digimon and I actually did kind of like the romance surrounding the characters. The last segment was the best, probably because it had the nicest character development.

I was annoyed by all the pop songs in this movie which is really something I hate in animated movies (including anime ones). I find "Pokémon: The First Movie" to be better, but not by much. I was really put off by the animation in this movie. I saw one episode of this show and thought it was just weird. So is everyone stealing from that game? No, this is just a genre of its own that's easy to identify, the "Mon" genre we call it.
However, in 1991, there was a video game called "Shin Megami Tensei", which featured fighting monsters. This counts as a movie based on a video game which I believe was Tamagotchi which predates Pokémon. The thing is, I have never been into Digimon, but I've done my research and I don't think it ripped off Pokémon. I'll never forget him saying, "At least Pokémon.". I feel so guilty for having the Nostalgia Critic's review of this movie as one of my favorite episodes. It is aimed at the lowest common denominator written as a predictable and mindless farce and dreadful animation that should be flattened under a ton of bricks. They are obviously lacking in media influence if they believe that this is harmless kids entertainment. It is always hilarious when conservative actions ignore violence packaged in these Pokemon rehashes. It is basically candy-coated violence aimed at children whose naïve parents are busy protecting them from films like American Psycho. There is absolutely no reason to see this film or allow your children to be subject to its bullshit. Why do people create such junk and call it entertainment? Even the animation is about the lowest level of garbage that is just above drawing stick figures. Eventually the whole Internet is threatened by furry creatures chewing phone line data. It opens with an egg hatching over the Internet and becoming a furry little creature that gets bigger and fights other Digimon creatures. Digimon regards our world (which is a world uninhabited by the creators of Digimon) and the digital world. 5/10 Bethany Cox.ĭigimon: The Movie (2000): Dir: Mamoru Hosoda, Minoru Hosoda, Shigeyasu Yamauchi / Voices: Lara Jill Miller, Joshua Seth, Bob Glouberman, Brian Donovan, David Lodge: Mirror image of Pokemon and frankly both films should be tossed in a trash compactor and forgotten. While mediocre, Digimon certainly isn't a terrible movie, it just isn't a great one either. There were also some parts in the story that were underdeveloped. I am still not receptive to the title song, and whereas the film starts off fine, the last 20 minutes are rushed, and are highly suggestive of two or three episodes thrown together. Sadly, there are some factors that let it down. The characters are likable, even the villains were adequate, and there are one or two thrilling action sequences. The animation is mostly good, and true to the show, and the voice talents on the whole were dynamic and expressive, and aided by some good dialogue. I did enjoy most of it, but it is mediocre as a film.

Maybe the pivotal factors of my fear that it wasn't going to be good, is because I am not a huge fan of the TV show, and that I did not like Pokemon:The First Movie. Anyway, I watched it with low expectations, and it was better than I expected it to be. Digimon:The Movie was one of those movies, that I thought I wasn't going to enjoy.
